Default Zen Cart withOUT Payment Acceptance?

    Hi all,

After a full week of learning Zen Cart, my client reveals that after looking at a competitor's website he wants to mimic how they operate. The competitor does not accept any type of payment online; the customer has to choose what they want and mail in either a cashier's check or money order. I'm assuming that the customer has a form that they fill out or they simply write their order and include with payment.

Is there any way to have zen cart NOT require payment and shipping? As I've been thinking about it, I think I should just do a simple website and include the instructions for the customers...

Any thoughts (before I go further in one direction or another)?

    Many thanks!

The BEST thing to do, is talk your client out of that SILLY notion. What good is being online, if people STILL have to order, and pay through "snail mail"? That totally defeats the purpose of being an ONLINE STORE!!

Ahhhh, what makes some of these people think?

If you can't talk 'em out of it.......yep....you can make the whole site a "Showcase" only site.

Go to Admin>Configuration>Store Status: set to 1 or 2....whichever the client desires.

    Hope this helps.

Another thing to bring up to your client - who in his right mind would send a cashier's check or money order to a business he'd never heard of before he received the goods?

The client is limiting himself to customers who aren't very smart. Fewer and fewer of those on the Web every day.

A BIG thanks to you both !!! My thoughts, exactly. As a versed online person, I thought that his potential clientele would diminish tremendously because of that very fact- when there are so many other online stores that take payment at the point of sale.

I'll call him in a few due to the time difference between us.

Any time, but I just mainly voiced my opinion.........or, as my wife would say "runnin' those choppers". Just can't see anybody spending all that time, and the $ he's shelling out to you to build a site for........for........hmmmmm......self-elimination? Is that a good word for it?
