Default Help! Site can't connect to my database

    Hi All,

I put out a thread to my host some time ago, but haven't recieved a response yet and getting a bit desperate to fix this.

I am in the process of trying to upgrade my zencart to 1.3.8 and managed to ftp the new files to my file manager. Then I created a new database and created an new user for that database. I used the same user name that was already being used for my other 2 database I already had (just to be consistant) and just created a new password and then added that user to the database and now when I try to sign on to my site it's say i'm having a connection problem with my database. so i deleted the new database that I created and I still can't connect. Any idea what I may have done wrong?

    Thanks!

There has to be a database ...

    1 create a new database

2 add a new username and password

3 add the new username and password to the database

4 import your old data from your old database and import it into your new database

5 edit the 2 configure.php files for the NEW directory with your NEW directory, paths, database etc.

6 run the /zc_install and upgrade your NEW database

    thanks Ajeh!

I am unclear on step 4 though. I've never imported a db before so not sure how to do it. I'm assuming i would create the new db, access it through my phpMyAdmin and click on import??? where it say's browse, should i be importing the db i had backed up on my local pc?

    is that right?

There are many ways to get an exported copy of your database imported to the new database ...

That would be one of them ...

ok...looks like i was able to transfer the db...yeah! Now when I try to edit the confige files and ftp them to my file manager I can error on my ftp program stating 'critical transfer error'. the only thing i can think of is that the permission is set to 0444 and needs to be changed. Should i change it to something like 0755?

    thanks!
