Blank Side Boxes - too much space

I have loaded two blank side boxes. They are both on left column of site. One newsletter is for sign up and one for Favorites. My problem is too much space on top and bottom inside the box. You can see it on my site. I tried all kinds of things to get margin-bottom to zero and even - . When I try it changes margin between boxes themselves and not inside. Oh, I even tried padding.

Any ideas?

your blank sidebox contains empty <p></p> and </p> tags .. they causing space on both top and bottom
