Coupon for only one item. and only for people I tell

I have one item id like to offer at a discount but only to certain people of my choosing.

Is there a way to have people add the item to the cart and then enter a coupon code that only effects the price of that item?

If you send a unique Discount Coupon to each person where it is setup for:

Uses per Coupon: 1

Uses per Customer 1

Then each Discount Coupon can be used by only 1 person so 1st person to use the code is the last person ...

While this doesn't stop it from having Fred get the Discount Coupon and telling Bob the code, it does stop more than 1 person from using the Coupon Code ... so if Bob does use it, now Fred cannot ...
