Default Mulitple flat rate shipping charges

I want to have only a tiered style of flat rate shipping in my store, but can't seem to figure it out. I've read thru the thread, and don't seem to find one that explains what I am looking for. As an example:

from .01 to 5.00 free shipping
    from 5.01 to 29.99 $7.50 shipping
    from 30.00 to 49.99 $10.00 shipping
    from 50.00 to 100.00 $15.00 shipping
    101.00 & over Free shipping

Is there a simple way to set this up. Please explain very simply, as I really do not understand the computer jargon nor HTML...
    Thanks bunches.

You would want to look at either the Table Rate table or Zone Rate zones shipping modules to build this method of shipping ...

Go to the Modules ... Shipping ... and install the Table Rate table shipping module ...

    Set it to use:
    5.00:0.00,29.99:7.50,49.99:10.00,100.00:15.00, 10000:0.00
And set to base this on Price ...

You do have a choice if you want the 2nd Free Shipping to read Free Shipping by going to Modules ... Order Totals ... Shipping ot_shipping and turning on Free Shipping on Orders over 101.00 ...

Something is very wrong... I set this up as you said, exept that I changed the charge for shipping, but kept with the same formula.
I just received an order for $96.00 and the shipping charge only showed $1.00. This dollar, I discovered was from a handling charge I had set up in the UPS module. Shipping should have come up as $11.75 (new charge for this amount). I also changed free shipping at $124.99 in the Order totals...Shipping ot_shipping.
I need to be able to figure this out before I loose any profit because of the shipping.
BTW, if this helps, they paid using Google Check Out. Thanks for all the help you've given my so far. I really do appreciate it.

    Ajeh..
You have been so wonderful and helpful to this total DUH... I hope you can help me with one more thing??
The flat rate is now working great (the google part... I stopped offering that as it has a quirk that needs to be addressed).
    Anyway, my problem
I love the way the flat rate works, and its great for everything EXCEPT this one product I sell. Dollar wise, it falls into the 7.50 shipping fee, however... I think that is way too much for a simple desktop calendar that I sell for 6.95. I don't want to charge more the $2.00 for shipping for this one particular item. Is there a way to keep the flat rate shipping based on prices, but also have a seperate shipping method for certain items?
    Thanks again.

You would have to customize the shipping a bit further ...

You could do that either by adding in a test for the products_id into the module and then change the price for that products_id or make separate shipping modules for specific products ...

Another way to do it is to use the products_weight field, where for Products that need a different price from the Flat Rate you instead use the products_weight ...

But, you need to decide what to do when you have a regular Product and a Product with the special shipping cost in the same cart ...

    uh.... DUH here...
I am so sorry Ajeh... I really am a dumb ***t when it comes to doing alot of these things. Which one can be done, NOT in the back end, but in the admin area? Because I am a , I have my friend who hosts my site lock me out of that area. I can only do stuff in the admin part....
What I am confused about (nothing new here.. lol ) is the part about the products_weight. Do I have to choose between the products_weight and the products_flat rate?
I "think" I understand what you mean by multiple purchases. Meaning, if they purchase this calendar plus something else, then the dollar amount (legitmately) would fall in the flat rate, but because I have it set up with a set rate, it would not work??
I think the best way would be for me to change my flat rate tier. Making anything, say under $6.00 have a $2.00 s/h. That would then, I think, solve my problem in the easiest manner with less confusion.
I thank you once again for coming to my aid (and having patience with my DUH questions).

I buy a less than $6.00 product ... so you want $2.00 in shipping ...

I buy a $12.00 product ... so you want your Flat Rate shipping ...

I buy 2 less than $6.00 products ... now what happens?

I buy 1 less than $6.00 product and 1 $12.00 product ... is this suppose to be the Flat Rate shipping?
