Using Amazon Cloudfront for Downloads
Using its S3 service, Amazon is offering a way to use their world-wide server infrastructure for content delivery. This means that you can host your downloadable files on Amazon.com servers and for a modest fee benefit from faster, more stable downloads for your customers.
You can read about it here:
aws.amazon.com/cloudfront/
I could see using this for my own downloadable content, but I was wondering
1) Would Zen Cart redirects effective hide the original Cloudfront location of the download?
2) Would there be any reason why going through a Zen Cart symlink redirect would slow down the downloads?
Using Cloudfront would seem to be a great way to ensure my customers get the files they buy without having to rely on my budget-webhost serving those files. Has anyone tried this?
Thanks!
Alex
