Default [Not a bug] Disabled category with enabled products (1.3.8a)

Just noticed that I can still access a category that's disabled if it contains products that are enabled.

As expected, the category does not appear in the categories sidebox. However, I can easily hack the URL (or load up a bookmark) to view the category page.

    Is this the correct behaviour?

    Many thanks,

    Alex

I hope so, please DON'T change it Admins

It will still only display products that are enabled.
If you bookmark a disabled product that product won't show.

I actually use this "feature" all the time
Mainly with upcoming new categories and products.

I can directly access and view and check them before enabling them all at once when required.
The public never see them as the category has never been publicly available before, and therefore cannot have been bookmarked.

I agree that it's handy to have access to these products (while preventing the category from being listed), but surely you shouldn't be able to jump back (using the breadcrumbs for example) and view an entire category that's disabled?

There are a number of reasons why people use the Disabled Category with active products ...

As such there is no single great solution ...

To change how you need to use the Disabled Category with active Products you need to customize the code for your own purposes ...
