    Default How to remove "One Time Charges" message?

    Newbee here getting my first store up and running and trying to educate myself along the way.

    I am seeing a message "* One time charges may apply
    Starting at:" when a product is displayed. It shows a blank value as the value after the "Starting at".

    I am pricing products by attributres but have not entered any option values for any options name into the "one time" field.

    What causes this message to show? .. and how can I remove it.

    Currently I have not entered any values in the one time

    Help / direction greatly appreciated.

    If you added Attributes then there is a Starting at price ...

    If you do not wish to use the Starting at then turn it off on the Product Type in the Catalog ... Product Type ... Edit Layout ...
    Show Starting At text on Price
    Display Starting At text on products with attributes Product Info 0= off 1= on
    where 1 is true or ON and 0 is false or OFF ...

    Found some other good stuff in the "Edit Layout" area as well. (I missed this area)

    I too would like to remove those words.

    Why would you want to do that?

    If I was buying something, I sure would want to know that there might be One Time Charges and might get a little miffy if they just "appeared" in my cart ...

    If you need to change the language of it, you can use the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... and in the bottom input box search for it ...

    Why would I want to do that?

    Reason #1: Leads people to believe that there are numerous surcharges.

    Reason #2: Amazon, Tiger Direct, etc don't do it.

    Reason #3: It does not serve a purpose to have shown.

    Store owner needs that flexibility to display it or not. In my particular case, I have a rush charge, and if they buy more than one I dont want to charge them more than one rush fee. So I have it listed as one time charge. They dont need to know that except at check out.

    Yes I know I can search for the string and change it in the appropriate files. But that isn't the way to go....IMHO

    PS they don't "just appear" in your cart anyway....you have to put them in your cart.

    A quick search with developers tool kit came up with a bunch of files that the text shows in. I figured this was where it was defined:


    includes / languages / english / product_info.php

    So I went into this and search for "one time charges" and found where it defines that and the astrix. Then I just made those to show nothing by leaving it with empty quotes.

    it worked...
