New York Sales Tax

Hi,

I am using Zen Cart v1.3.8a/v1.3.8 and we need a way to charge for New York Sales tax. they have so many different tax rates its complicated.

any help as to what to do would be great.

In Zen cart administration you can select "Locations/Taxes" and then choose your zones and rates as needed. You can change the values for the tax rates to your needed percentage. You can always do a search for the tax rate for your county in New York on the internet to assure you are charging the correct rate.

ok. but that is just for the whole state. as NY has many tax rates. one for each county. is there a way to do that?

Zen cart does not have the ability to figure the percentage for each of the counties. You can search on the NYS tax site for the percentage for your county and manually add it as your percentage.

Actually, by clever use of zones and related factors, it is possible to automatically charge the correct tax for the customer's address (at the cost of forcing them to select their county when registering).
