    Default Why can't I change the date format?

    I have edited the following in both english.php files:

    define('DATE_FORMAT_LONG', '%l, %F %j%S, %Y'); // this is used for strftime()

    and the output should be Friday, August 14th, 2009, but instead it is showing as 4 2009-08-14 22640, 2009

    What gives?

    Actually it's doing *exactly* what you told it to do.
    See the documentation on the parameters here: http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.strftime.php

    Whoops! I guess I had date() function parameters on my mind. Thanks!
