    Default coupon/gift certificate issues

    I have had this problem since day one and thought it was just me doing something wrong but...

    if I use the admin>gift certificate/coupon>coupon admin

    insert coupon through here and send to customer some can use it others never get it to work


    if using same path to mail gift certificate, I am getting the same issue. There are some that enter the number in either box at checkout or use the link provided and it tells them, code number replaced with xxx by me to post;

    Redeem Gift Certificate
    The Gift Certificate number xxxxx may be invalid or has already been redeemed. To contact the shop owner please use the Contact Page


    then when i look at their page there is either no order showing or in the listing of gc's it is shown as used

    others just get the not valid error

    I did not worry about it for we were very new and did not use many but now we sponsor several competitions and really need for it to work

    any ideas what i need to do to get it to stop picking who can use it and who can not

    You are sending out a 90 character Gift Certificate code ...

    Check the settings in the Configuration ... GV Coupons ... for the setting:
    Length of the redeem code
    Enter the length of the redeem code
    The longer the more secure
    Change that to something more resonable such as 10 ...

    LOLI had it set to 9 but the keyboard I had is sticky keyed for some reason and the 9 and 0 must have gotten hit at the same time....have taken away the 0 now...but did the coupon/gc work?

    I received a dead URL as I believe the length of the code affected this ...

    If you could send me another one with the shorter code I can test that one to see is there a problem or just the result of the huge code ...

    ty I just tried it and did not know that when they click the link it automatically puts it into their account.

    I think I will hunt down the file and change the wording just a bit to say that it has been added to their account and is ready to use when they are checking out.

    I had a panic attack reading it was redeemed then realized it was added...lol We are a bit slow on the uptake I guess.
