Limit the number of accounts per IP address?

Hello,

Not sure if this has been answered, I searched and got nothing.

Is there a way to limit the amount of accounts per IP address?

the purpose for this is so I can have a 10% off for new customers, but the last time I did this I had multiple sign ups under the same IP (same person) to take advantage of the 10% off offer.

If there is a way please share with me.

I am certain you could configure such a function... but it would likely be more of a headache than a help. AOL for example will have thousands on the same IP at once..... Additionally nearly every ISP hands out dynamic IPs that you could block then are send on to the next user who is now blocked... But the original blocked person is free to sign up again.

Maybe shipping/billing address would be more effective?
