I have just been advised by PayPal that they won't process payments with Maestro/Switch cards unless 3-d secure is setup.

We lost hundreds of £££'s of sales yesterday from Maestro/Switch customers.

Dr Byte, can you please tell us what is happening?

    Thank you

This issue is going to cause havoc for a large amount of Zencart users , especially developers that have more than one customer website running on Zencart.

Is there any progress on this yet? Can we at least tell our customers it will be resolved at some stage this month?

We really need to know what, if anything, is happening. I have been in touch with paypal - they won't change the deadline (21st january) and direct me to Cardinal, who paypal say are providing the update. Cardinal say it is not their responsibility and direct me to Zen cart. No news as to action on this thread.

Precious little time left to implement and test before the 21st.

Can we at least have some idea of what action is being taken and a timeline of when this will be solved?

    Losses are mounting!!!

As of yesterday, we discovered a problem with the way that the communication was supposed to be done between the Zen Cart application and the 3d application. This is being evaluated at the moment.

    thanks for the quick answer

    2 questions

1/ Do you think this will be done before the 21st deadline?

    and

2/ Will it be a gpl free gateway when its done, or will it be released as a commercial gateway which people have to buy?

    #1 - unknown at this moment -

#2 - The 3D secure will be part of the PayPal Module, not a free standing module.

    Folks,

We are working with PayPal and Cardinal to resolve the communications issues so that we can release an updated integration. We hope to have this done soon, but in the interim, you should probably inform your customers that their Maestro cards can not be processed online temporarily, but you can process them via the virtual terminal - So, you could have those affected customers call to give you their information.

    This is from PayPal -

What is 3D Secure? Created by the card payments industry, 3-D Secure is a security feature which ensures that payments using certain credit and debit cards are authenticated by the card holder with their bank at the time of the transaction. 3-D Secure is the common name for the technology behind MasterCard SecureCode (MSC) and Verified by Visa (VbV). If your customer's card is enrolled with 3-D Secure, during the payment flow they will be prompted by their bank to enter a password to verify that the transaction is authorised by the card owner before completion.

How does 3D Secure affect me? All merchants who want to process Maestro transactions using UK Website Payments Pro must use 3D Secure to continue using Maestro. This does not apply to transactions processed via Virtual Terminal. Due to MasterCard compliance requirements if you do process Maestro but do not register with Cardinal Commerce and update your PayPal integration you will not be able to process Maestro cards. Maestro will be disabled for all non 3-D Secure accounts as of the 21st January 2010. If you do not process Maestro cards online, via UK Website Payments Pro, then you do not need to do anything.
