    Default Moving site

My question is kind of complicated (at least to me).
    Situation -
    1. Website QIM exists with a cgi cart on a server that does NOT support the php needed for zen cart and is a very attentive site.
    2. I built the site on "my" domain name ME
    3. The server people set up a "temp" area for QIM and put zen cart up on it and gave me copies of the admin/includes/config and includes/config files.....the zen cart was accidentally deleted but I still have the two config files. I FTP'd the zen cart to the site. And for some reason I can NOT get to the QIM/zc_install file to reinstall - even though I can see it through my FTP.
    4. I have the information ready to change DNS
    5. I HAVE read and reread the move Zen Cart to new host or different server.

Here is my question - if I
    1. Back up the sql database via myPhpAdmin - done
    2. Put a "real copy" of the current version of my work that I did on "my" domain name ME. (making second copy now)
    3. Change the two config files to reflect the new database name/password /domain name etc
    4. Upload this copy of the site and import my sql database.
    Can I
Continue with step six (fix cache key) and then change DNS?

I am open to all ideas.......I just don't want the cgi cart down for very long!
    existing site - http://www.quiltsinmontana.com/
new site on ME - http://www.monkeyenterprises.com/

    Thanks for your time!

On what domain name/host account are you wanting ZenCart?

    quiltsinmontana.com
but it will be on a new server NOT on the one that it currently resides.

the zen cart that needs to be moved to that site sits at monkeyenterprises.com

I was trying to do it with all of those steps but withOUT the install of zen cart and just modifying the config files to the database info etc etc.

Just didn't know if that was possible.....

    Thanks for your replies...

Performing the new install is for a few reasons:
    Generates proper config files
    Insures details are correct

If you are savy enough, you can skip this and just manually edit details

The only thing I feel "savvy" enough about is the config files......
don't know if the "details" include any other files other than the config.....but I am a quick learner ;o)

That is it - insuring that the new DB - DB user - DB pass, and paths are correct
