Default Purchase multiple items using Attributes?

Sorry if I'm repeating something that's already in this forum, but I'm not sure how to ask what I need to know.

My client has a product, Pick a Pack of HairNoodles, for $9.95 that comes in 24 colors. What I thought I should do is use Attributes for color. They want a customer to be able to choose several colors at a time and add to the Cart, so I thought checkboxes were the way to go.

My problem is, for example, if you check say 3 different colors, the customer only gets charged for one product (the base price). If I add $9.95 for each color, they get charged for the 3 colors PLUS the base price. If I were to make the base price zero, then on the product page it would appear to cost zero, which I don't want.

SO… my question is: Is there a way for me to use Attributes for this or do I have to make each color choice a Product and the product itself a Subcategory?

The web site is here: http://herdoos.com/shop and click on HairNoodles under Shop by Product.

In the product setup page, there's a Product Priced by Attributes option that I think will fix the $0.00 thing.

You might want to look at this, too:

Steve is correct. If a product is flagged as priced by attributes then the product price (zero here) will have the cost of the cheapest attribute added and by default in this case would display something like "starting from $9.95".

Thanks both of you, that worked and I'm almost there. I changed the "starting from:" to "Package of six:" since I won't be using Attributes for any other product.

Now, can I hid the attribute prices? I'd just prefer to have the color names below their corresponding photos, showing the $9.95 is redundant.

This is how it looks right now:
