changes made in page editor do not save??

I'm tryin to edit the main page as well as the rest of my pages using thee html page editor but everytime i get a page looking the way i want it then click save and view the website its the same as it was b4. any ideas on what i am doin wrong?

Do you mean the Define Pages Editor? You could have file permissions set to not allow changes. In this case, you would need to change the permission on the relevant file(s) in your hosting control panel's file manager, or possibly with your FTP program.
If you had restrictive permissions, you probably want to set them back after editing.

ive set the permissions on all the right folders to 777

Did you set permissions on the files too? What were they before?
If I had any more help to give on this, I would have posted before.

when i go into control panel of hosting provider it will only let me set permissions on folders and ive tried several ftp programs but most wont connect and the ones that will the site wont allow to set permissions
