    store seems to work fine

    Read and tried this
    https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=82

    first attempt; uploaded by ftp...
second attempt; local extraction of zip file directly to inetpub folder

    Debug Error Logging Utility;
    5. Open the latest /cache/myDEBUG-xxxxxxx.log file to see the list of any PHP errors that occurred while the page/test was running.

    No such file is created...
although session and install.log files do exist.

    Attempt to show errors on-screen.
    Filename: /includes/local/configure.php
nada page still hangs indefinately, no output.

    enabled logging in php... nada

also tried the steps in this thread... again no feedback in logs or in browser IE8

    and testing with Firefox 3.5.3
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    tried this http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38248

    the session.use_trans_sid 0

recap - I am working on a startup store. there are no transactions or logins / users. I have no data to loose / clean install ;)

I have also setup a test OScommerce2.2rc2a site that does work on the same server / domain (in a separate folder ;))... Is this helpful info?

Can anyone please shed some light on this for me
    - What additional info can I provide to help you to help me?

My thanks and respect to the team!

This could be something in the configure.php file ...

If you could post, from the server, without your username and password, your files:
    /includes/configure.php
    /admin/includes/configure.php

we can look at those and see if this is a configuration issue with those files ...

Also, as you mentioned, .htaccess is useful to apache, not IIS. And, in IIS 6 which is very old, having .htaccess files can sometimes break the site because IIS 6 isn't smart enough to handle them properly. Removing them might be helpful for use on your specific server configuration. You'll have to deal with the security protections they're intended to offer by using alternative methods with IIS instead.
