Default Is Zen cart right for my Business? need and cart + User reg. solution.

Is Zen Cart the right solution what i want to do?

I operate a equipment repair service website.
I am not a programmer and I am new to eCommerce. So please bear with me!

Here is what I would like to happen.

    Step 1
I would like my customer to choose the type of repair service they need
    1) Overhaul = $90
    or
    2) Estimate = $ 30.

    Step 2
Customer selects the type of service and adds it to cart.

    Step 3
Then the customer submits additional repair info (the problem with device + shipping info) into a form called "Service Ticket".

The "service ticket" gets attached to the checkout invoice.

    Step 4
    The customer checks out.
The invoice is emailed to the customer and me. It should include the "Service ticket" info. (ideally, the "service ticket" # that will be the same as the invoice #)

    Step 5
The "service ticket" gets emailed to my repair shop.(w/o
    payment info or price)

This shouldn't be too hard to do, right? I would like to be able to implement this by myself.

Alternatively, If you know of a company or service that can help me implement this, please let me know.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks in advance.

You can use text input attributes to have the customer enter the info right on the "product" info page. When they add the product to their cart, the text will be saved as part of the product order. There will not be a separate "service ticket"; the order/invoice/confirmation e-mail itself will be the ticket.
    See the tutorials for attributes.
Note that you have to edit the text option to get some settings:

"On some Option Names, based on the Type ... there are more settings if you Edit the Option Name:

    For Option Type TEXT:

    * Comments
    * Max Display Size (size of input box on screen)
    * Max Length (max number of characters/spaces)"

You can print or e-mail a packing slip which will not have billing info.

Thanks Glenn! Does anyone know if i can export the invoice info into a database in order to create a "Service Ticket" email that doesn't include the payment information?
I don't want my repair shop to know that information. Alternatively, is there a way to email one invoice with all the info and another invoice(same purchase) with that payment info missing?

You can edit the packing slip template file to exclude the payment method and billing address - it already excludes all pricing info.

There may be a mod in Free Addons that does what you want; if not, one can be written.
Easy Populate can export/import information, and can most likely be set up to handle your service ticket info.

Thanks again Glen! I think I'm getting close to my solution! Does Zen Cart export into Quickbooks, or Salesforce? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller ?

There is at least one Quickbooks export/import mod. Check Free Addons and search the forum.
