Can Zen Cart be used as a community website?

I was approached to do a free website for the community i live in, they want to add articles to the site and thought zen cart can hold these articles as products without the price and add to cart features, etc..

Since i am familiar with zen cart it will be the quickest to implement if it can be done, anyone has any suggestions or comment or recommending other open source code?

We have even made that sort of format easy by using the Document Product type. Using Zen Cart would give you the option of having the ecommerce functionality, if you ever wanted to expand into it. However, if you want to be able to accept comment or other interaction from the community, you might be better off with a full-blown CMS program.
