Can't download product after payment success: "403 Not Authorized"

I turned my sandbox mode off and went live with PayPal so I could test it out.

I successfully completed my order and was taken back to the page I'm displaying in my first screenshot.

Then when I'm told to download the product (an eBook zip file), I click on the button and I get a white page that says I'm not authorized to view it!

What could I be doing wrong? I put in both screenshots, hoping someone can help...

A "403-Forbidden" error typically occurs when someone attempts to access a file where authentication is required but they haven't provided the applicable password.
So, first you need to find out what exactly is triggering it in your case ... so read your server's apache error_log to find out what it's saying when that error is triggered.
Then deal with whatever the issue is.

Now ... you haven't indicated whether this happens to ALL orders, or just "some" with a particular pattern, or whether it's "random".
Also, you haven't indicated what addons you've installed, what alterations you've done to your site vs a brand new uncustomized install, what special security/authentication/.htaccess changes you've made on your site, and so on.
Nor have you included answers to any of the questions in the "Posting Tips" window that appears on the "New Thread" or "Reply" screens.

So, if you're going to "bump" a thread, please at least provide additional information which may help in diagnosing the problem. Otherwise, expect no responses.

Thank you for the helpful information. I can certainly see how it would be much wiser to post those answers ahead of time, and I wasn't thorough in my initial posting with regards to that. I appreciate you pointing it out.

Check the permissions on the downloadable file in your ftp. If it is not set correctly you will get that error. I had it happen to a customer.
