Default cloned zen site - new admin is editing the original site

This was my first go at cloning Zen CArt and it all went according to plan. My original Zen site is on a subdomain, and my cloned Zen is on a second subdomain of the same site.

I can access the admin at the correct new subdomain address - and I can log in. I can make changes to the info. BUT - the changes are not taking effect on the new site - they are taking effect on the ORIGINAL site.

    Why is this?

Thank you for any help you can provide with this. Clearly I missed a step somewhere or other.

Did you make a second database and install your data into that new database? And tell your new site to use that new database (specified in your 2 configure.php files)? If not, you're still pointing at the old database.

Yes - I made a second database. I dropped all the tables and imported the original database. I also did a fresh install of Zen, the deleted all but the config files, the uploaded the original files with the exception of the config files. ran the fixcachekey and got an okay message. I checked config files to make sure the path is correct.

It's incredibly weird. Both admins - the original and the new - at completely different urls - make editing changes to the original site. Neither admin makes changes to the new site.

    I am stumped.

Your new site's /admin/includes/configure.php file is apparently pointing to the old database.
