Is there a way to prevent Sale Maker from applying a sale to some items in a category while still applying the sale to all other items?

ie. If I want all the Pattern Paper to go on sale but did not want Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses on sale since it's brand new, what do I need to do so that the discount is applied to all Pattern Paper but not Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses?
