    help question Google analitics Add Ons...

    Hello.

    I am trying to figure out what contribution to use to set up my Google e-commerce tracking system.

    Can anyone tell me if I should use "Simple Google Analytics Contribution" or "Google Analytics by Andrew"?

    Also if I install "Google Analytics by Andrew", do I still have to modify my receipt page in order to track my e-commerce transactions??

    It looks like I don't have to modify my receipt page with the use of "Simple Google Analytics Contribution"...

    Thank you.

    If you want the plain old google analytics (where it doesnt track all the orders individually - just the traffic) i wouldnt use any mod, its easier to add in the code yourself

    But i believe if you want the eccomerce tracking then i think its the simple google analytics is the better option

    Thanks for replying.

    The only difference I see in readme.txt files is that

    Google Analytics by Andrew_2-2-1 does tracking clicks on outgoing links.

    And Simple Google Analytics_1-2-2 does Conversion Tracking.

    Is it the only difference??

    Sorry not to sure if that is the only difference or not. I tried to install google analytics by andrew, and it was such a pain! Didnt seem to work correctly for me.

    I do know that another developer on here had the same issue and in the end installed simple google analytics to get the ecommerce trackng to work

    It could be worth searching for the thread on those particular add ons, you will be able to get a much more detailed reply from people using the add on and also from the developer :)

    Where do you place the Google analytics code? I'm not sure where to place the code I have from Google in my zen-cart platform.

    The links for the two products I was looking at are here:

    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=412

    and

    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=891

    1. if you just want to install basic Google analytics code, you still can use one of these modules and have your basic Google analytics account.

    2. If you want to set it up to track your sales, etc., configure your Google analytics account to an e-commerce type and use one of the contributions from the links above. Info on setting up your e-commerce analytics account with Google is here: (http://www.google.com/support/google...en&topic=11001).

    3. You can just copy paste your code (provided by your Google analytics account) into the bottom of your includes/templates/YourTemplate/common/tpl_main_page.php content, immediately before the </body> tag (it will only track your basic site activities, no e-commerce tracking - with the basic Google analytics account)

    Like this:

    <script type="text/javascript">
    var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
    document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
    </script>

    <script type="text/javascript">
    try{
    var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-xxxxxx-x");
    pageTracker._trackPageview();
    } catch(err) {}
    </script>

    </body>

    Change UA-XXXXXXX-X with your account number, don't forget to configure your Google analytics in your Administrative Panel (add your Google analytics account number, etc.).

    Hi,

    using 1.3.8 and I want to add analytics, I've got a couple of questions about this.

    1. If I add analytics, will it interfere with my SSL certificate? I saw a post somewhere that suggested it would because it accesses an external URL?
    2. Will any of the prebuilt mods, eg Andrews and Simple Analytics avoid this?
    3. If not does anyone know how to prevent this problem?

    >Quoth Astarkley: Do you also know where I should place adsence code.
    Banner manager is a good place to start!

    and just another comment about zen dudes who put the package together from OScommerce (hope your listening) - You guys rock! I hope that the community supports you all with donations (I guess there's a lot of pirates out there), etc. I will be. Thanks for oz.
