'New products for January' showing products im not selling

Hi,

Ive been sifting through the admin of my website thegreatgiftshop.co.uk/zencart.com setting the status of many products to 'disabled' as I am not currently selling them but no not want to delete them alltogether since I may at a later date get more stock.
However, I've noticed at the bottom the 'New products for Jan' still shows these disabled products. How can I prevent this?

If I delete the product completely from the admin this solves the problem but this is useless as I do not want to permanently delete, I simply want the ability to disable products temporarily as I've been doing, but without the products still showing in the new products box! As this will surely confuse my customers, and me!

Any ideas how I can tell Zencart to not do this?

I am very new to css and anything to do with changing code, but with some instruction I've managed to make changes to the code to make zen do what I require. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
