Only charge shipping for a few items

Hi All

I use table rate shipping with free shipping over $XX. My issue is that I have some heavy furniture items that should not ever have free shipping. If someone orders $150 in regular products free shipping is fine, but if they order a $150 chair they need to pay.

In the product details I've seen how to make individual product ship free, but not how to charge shipping.

I have 35,000 products and maybe 300 that need custom shipping charges. The only option I can see is just adding ship charges into the price but for some of them that would put my price way over market. I have a $450 item that usually cost $150 to ship. If I set the price at $600 NO ONE would ever buy it, or click through from a price comparison website

Anyway, any ideas are welcome

What happens if I have a Mixed Cart with these products when you have some that are allowed to be free shipping over $300 and some that are not?

Are the products that are allowed to be shipped free on orders over $300 still free shipping when one or more of these products that is not allowed free shipping?

What shipping module(s) are you using?

If the order is $200 of the Products "allowed" to be Free Shipping on orders over $300 and $200 of the Products "not allowed" to be Free Shipping on orders over $300 ... does this count to the Free Shipping on the Products that are allowed ... meaning does the order "qualify" as far as the Free Shipping for orders over $300 but need to charge shipping for the products that do not "qualify"?
