no download "save as" option choices for mp3 downloads

When customers click on "download" for their purchased mp3 products there is no option to 'save' item - file just opens in a media player in a new window. PDF's, however, do have a popup asking what to do with the file.

How do I get the popup option for mp3's when customers click 'download'?

My server is justhost.com - Linux OS

My settings are:

Enable Downloads true Info
Download by Redirect true Info
Download by streaming false
Download Expiration (Number of Days) 7 Info
Number of Downloads Allowed - Per Product 5 Info
Downloads Controller Update Status Value 4 Info

I put the AddType application/octet-stream.mp3 in the .htaccess file but it doesn't seem to make any difference - still streams when pressing download so I have to ask customers to right click and "save target as..."

these are the instruction I've had to detail about the downloadable files:

define('HEADING_DOWNLOAD', 'TO DOWNLOAD YOUR FILES EITHER: 1. Click the download button and choose "Save to Disk" from the popup menu, or 2. Hover over the download button or Item Name and right click and choose "Save Link As...", or "Save Target As..." - the method you use will depend on your browser and browser settings.');

Furthermore Safari's right click option of "download linked file as..." always gives "index.php" as the default file name. So you have to type in the name of the linked file yourself - unlike IE, Firefox, and Google Chrome

Maybe simpler to add mp3 file/s into zip..

Been back through the other thread and doesn't seem to help me - maybe I should just zip up the mp3's ?? Is this what other music download sites do?
All I want is for some options to come up when customers click on 'Download'

Do I need a 3rd party program to zip my mp3's?

Good idea...use Free Prog from 7zip.com
TIP...when zipping files for download from your zencart store, I recommend that you DONT use hyphens, uppercase text..

Hi I had the same problem and just in case you haven't resolved this, don't forget that if you are using the redirect method for handling downloads, you will need to place the htacess directive in the /pub folder, since that is where the user will be retrieving his/her file.
