Conditional pricing

I need to have a product with a price... say $5.00... if it is purchased alone, but if it is purchased along with another specific item, it is free. How can I do this?

Maybe this can be done with attributes, but the truth is the attributes section confuses me... so if it can be done that way, please tell me how!

I think you want to use a cross sell mod.

Thanks for the recommendation, but the truth is I downloaded that and installed it, and now I have no idea what to do with it. I looked at the instructions and they appear to involve modifying individual lines in files.

I'm not the kind of guy who will spend time modifying file contents and tweaking databases. If I can't go to a menu or point/click to get it done, it won't get done. I simply don't have time, so in this case it will just have to not get done.
