Default HTML Area in admin not working

When adding new products, I click on HTML Area, and it resets the page and reverts to "plain text" in the text editor, pretty hard to work it without HTML, any solutions?

I do have a test store, and it works fine in that, what can I transfer to get it working again?

    Thanks

    What are the details????
Are these on the same server?
You should need to transfer anything as this is all contained in a default install - unless your upload is corrupt
If you might suspect that it is corrupt
Post your particulars on your FTP client

Especially as an admin issue one must provide as much detail as possible

Details?, latest version, trying a few add ons, and testing in test store before adding in real store, but this one got me by surprise.

    recently added "limitless logins"
    ok, found the culprit,
    IMAGE MANAGER BETA,
install "1. Rename "admin/includes/htmlarea.php" to "admin/includes/htmlareaBAK.php". It can be deleted later if all goes well.

    2. In the new files edit the Image Managers config file. This is "editors/htmlarea/plugins/ImageManager/config.inc.php". Put your own server settings here and look through the rest of the settings in case you want to change anything else. If you have Image Magik installed on your server and know the p...."

I changed the name of htmlarea to BAK as it suggested, and then got lost trying to work out where in my server it was referring to for placing image files, then I gave up, and forgot to change it back from htmlareaBAK back to htmlarea, which I just did, but doesn't work still, did I miss something?, changed the name in "file manager" I thought that would do.

SLAP ME NOW (forgot .php), now works.

What I don't understand is where or what is my root directory? (i.e the instructions above),

    var/www/html/store

at what point here is the root directory?, this add on asked for it, and another file I did (favicon) to get my little icon up there for the world to see, I tried in var/images, www, www/images, but I just don't know where it goes, people who write these things assume we know these things, but frustratingly not.

I have given up on a few add ons because of this.

What is the easiest add on for pop up messages?, that a dumb ###### like me can install?

I have "gallery" from my ISP installed, and I have graphicsmagic

I have uploaded oics to folders in picassa, but gallery needs them to be uploaded too, and I had trouble doing that from my hard drive, but easily from picassa, seems like double handling and a lot of extra work, why can't this be easy?

    Web Root or Store root???

If you have your shop at

var/www/html/store then your shop root is just that

If your shop is at the Web Root or var/www/html/ then that is the root of your shop

favicon.ico is at your web root or var/www/html/

what is "product url' near the bottom for
Some link to the manufacturers site and if you do this will be presented in the product info page your customer sees
"For more information, please visit this products web page"
what add on would be easiest to nderstand/install?
Most are simple - drag and drop installs

Others that interact with the DB can be a little to a lot more difficult

It really depends upon what functionality you want to add

After my self inflicted problems with this, I have successfully added some products with the HTML editor, uncluded pics, and now when I insert, it drops the pics and only allows a couple of lines of description, I log out of admin, log back in, it seems to work, then suddenly stops again, one of my products (fake rock) is showing html in the description on main, but normal text when you enter the product description. But as stated, most of the text is dropped. I deleted the product, started again, identical problem???
