Admin login page will not load

Hi,

I've just tried two fresh installs today (on GoDaddy), and both times, I have been unable to load the admin login page. I am getting the error "The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

I have tried: clearing cache and cookies and rebooting computer/restarting browser.

I have also tried each of the steps in this article: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=84

I have also tried updating my configuration.php files to include the www and to enable SSL. (and yes, I remembered to reset the permissions to read only).

None of these things seems to have worked.

I can see the front page of my site and browse the other pages without any problem. It's just trying to load the admin login that fails.

Your store still shows

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/content/ ......

Did you do your installs via cPanel Fantastico or manually as per tutorial https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=107 ?

If done via Fantastico then I suggest you contact your host.

If you followed the instructions in the tutorial to a tee then it may also be a problem with GoDaddy. They are notorious for DB problems.

With due respect to GoDaddy they are doing a great job in many ways but I would not have my store(s) hosted on their server(s)

oops.. permissions are fixed. I'd set it to 644, but obviously 444 is preferred by zen cart.

...I have no idea what cPanel Fantastico is, so I'm fairly certain I didn't use it. I installed it using godaddy's installation feature, which I've used before to install wordpress, joomla and any number of other software, as well as a previous zen cart install about six months ago. None have ever had any issues.

I'll submit a support ticket and see what happens on the godaddy end. After a week of frustration with multiple ecommerce installs, I was expecting this one to be easy, since I'd done it successfully before.

I'll add another update here on the outcome.

I got the issue sorted with GoDaddy. Turns out there was something in the php5.ini file in the root directory that was causing the issue. Of course, they don't provide support for the contents of the file, but I remembered that I'd edited it when trying to get another app working. Once I removed the line, everything worked perfectly.

In case anyone else needs the info, the line I took out of the file was:
cgi.fix_pathinfo = 1
