How can I add photos to the header?

In the header there is usually a picture called logo.gif
How can I add another picture to the header next to it? If that is not possible how can I center the logo.gif picture (Which I can just change to any picture that i want but adding a completely new photo would be better)

what template are you using? do you have a link to your site?

if you are looking to edit the core file you need to edit you tpl_header.php found in includes\templates\template_default (or any template you are using instead on template_default) or alternatively you should be able to edit the css to center the logo etc, make sure you place this in your overrides folder.

I am using the free "Silverfish" template
My image with the penguins at the top is simply the pre programed logo.gif image that I simply overwrote. Can this be centered?
Alternatively, (And would be better) can the logo.gif file be completely removed altogether and then I add a completely new image there

In your css file you would actually want to change the header background image!

but if you want to leave as is look for:
#headerWrapper {display: block; background: #88a0c2; height:1%; /*IE Hack*/}
#headerBackground {width: 100%; height: 85px; align: center; background: url(../images/bg_header.jg) repeat-x #88a0c2;}
/*#logo {float: left; position: absolute; top: -45px; left: 20px;}*/

uncomment and change to centre

by the way you have "put a completly different image in" by overwriting logo and be sure to keep a copy of your original CSS file as a backup!

have you considered creating a new image and saving it as logo.gif and placing it in your override folder to display that instead of the default logo picture?

Thanks. I am getting somewhere. I am in the css and am getting a response but when I comment it out the image then goes completely to the left of the page and up rather than being centered.
Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Maybe you can give me a little more detailed instructions on what I should be doing. Maybe I am commenting something out incorrectly?
I assume that those two "left" words I just change tp "center"?

not quite... you need to un comment and remove or alter the "absolute" statement which positions it exactly

I cant seem to get this to work. Where in stylesheet.css would you drop this?
Also, how can you then make the image to be centered rather than to the left?

One way to center the logo would be to add to your stylesheet:

#logo {margin-left:50px;} Adjust the 50 untill it looks right.
