Discount Coupon does not apply to linked products in a Category

I have a discount coupon restricted to only 2 categories on the site. These Categories have products, and several linked products. In coupon admin, I have restricted the discount coupon to deny all, and then allow these two categories.

However, when customers select a 'linked product' in the discounted category, the discount does not apply.

There are a lot of linked products. I cannot add them one by one, and i cannot add the other categories either as the discount applies to the two categories and their linked products only.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Do you mean a sale or a special? To my knowledge you can't restrict coupons to a set category.

No, he means coupon.

Farhan, you would have to modify the category validation logic to include linked categories. Nothing is built in to handle this sort of thing.

Swguy, you're right (why wouldn't the duke of discounts be) :)

I never noticed the restrictions option in the dialog box on the right. But now I will be sure to use it.
