Related Products

[pricediscrimination]

Based on everything I've read about this mod, I still can't figure out how it works. Does it display products from a certain category automatically? Or do you have to manually set which products display?

Right now using "Ultimate Cross Sell for Zen Cart" and it is very annoying because every product has to be set individually. This is not good because there is a lot to manage, and if a product is sold out then it still displays unless you manually remove it.

In Related Products v1.3, install the optional admin. After putting in the family name into a product, the family name is not retrieved from the database when you edit a product.

To fix this problem, edit
admin\includes\modules\product\collect_info.php
find the line that has
p.products_sort_order,
and change it to
p.products_sort_order, p.products_family,

just installed this in zc 1.5 and the read me says 'You will need to enter text into the products_family column' problem is I cant see a products family column, anyone shed any light as to what I may have done wrong?

When I edit a product, the Product Family Keyword box is just above the Products URL box.

Nothing was showing for me there but I have now installed the optional admin files and it's there now, had to merge though as I already had 2 mods using some of those files (CEON URI Mapping and numinix product fields) so had already been merged twice, 3 times now, main thing is it's now working.

Now just need to figure how to get the related products to open in a new tab....

Done, just added the target="_blank" command to the 2 urls for the image and link in the 'tpl_modules_related_products.php' file

1st of all, THANKS to Ravi. I found this is another great contribution.
Well it's just a little bit sad since then Ravi is not reply to this forum. (He is a nice guy and could easily reach his blog via google)

Today I successfully installed this plugin in ZC1.5, I wish I could add more info here as I'm also a new zenner, and hope to share with other new zenners.

To get this plugin works for ZC1.5, pls download the 'add-on' plugin from JOE. (THANKS another great contributor). Sorry I just don't know the reason it's not updated to Zencart site.

All you need to do is just follow the readme instruction written by Ravi, and adding the new files from JOE. Take care of the files with OPTIONAL-admin-files\includes\modules, ensure that you 'winmerge' them (if you installed other plugins previously).

So I also used Pickupman's plugin. My only problem is that I would like to have the item show the price and also an "add to cart button".

Also, just curious songseng: where did you change the text from "related product" to "products you may want to know"
