Default Different currency not showing in payment

I have a store set up in AUS/NZD/USD
My first customer was from NZ (Australian store), my Dollar is set as AUD.

When he purchased, the total showed up as $35, shipping was almost $10.

I saw the paypal payment as $25 ish, and thought thet somehow the cart lost the shipping., and notified the customer, not realising the NZD is pretty piss poor, and that $35 NZD is near $25 AUD.

So why does the invoice not show AUD, my store sales are going to be way out depending on the currency used to purchase, and after a while with a lot of sales this is going to get messy.

SWGUY, You can fix this, I know you can, you are GOOOOOD, pleas make it right.

    1. Do you have your payments processed via PayPal? If so, then set your PayPal account to process orders only in AUD. What shows on the order and corresponding invoice would only be a guideline - depending on the present settings of your currencies. You still get paid in AUD. I assume this may be possible with other payment processing institutes as well

    2. In admin/Localization/Currencies you can set a symbol to appear either left or right of the figures. For example, select USD, edit and find the field "Symbol Left:" - now enter there $US. If your customer pays by USD the the order and invoice will show $US to let you know what currency has been used.

I should add to the above that you can set the currency for order processing in admin/modules/payment. Edit the module(s) you are using and you see this for PayPal:

    Transaction Currency
Which currency should the order be sent to PayPal as?
NOTE: if an unsupported currency is sent to PayPal, it will be auto-converted to USD (or GBP if using UK account)
    Default: Selected Currency
select AUD and you are on your way...

The paypal payment went through in AUD, my store invoice showed his payment in NZD, as I see it, adding AUD$ will not have changed it to AUD, I assume that it would have shown AUD$35.97 when it should have been $25 odd AUD, am I missing something?, I am a bit hesitant to adjust the paypal settings when paypal is showing AUD (in the paypal site)

    Guy,

got your PM, thanks. No need to worry about the totals being messed up by changing any of the prefixes. That's only a reference for you or for the customer.

My settings are just as explained above. I only added the prefixes to do away with confusion on my end as I am getting orders from OZ, Canada and the US. They all used to show just $ which means nothing in the scheme of things.

Changing the settings at Admin > Modules > Payment
    Transaction Currency
Which currency should the order be sent to PayPal as?

    MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_CURRENCY
    (radio) AUD checked
will ensure that all t/a's are processed in AUD (assuming AUD is your default currency with value 1.000000)

Both of my stores have been operating this way from day dot without probs.

    Cheers / Frank

    Frank,
the payment module, paypal is and has been set to AUD ONLY, and the store currency is set to AUD, even with those setting, when my customer selected NZD as his currency, (I assumed so he could see NZD, but would pay in AUD), but when he paid, my store showed the invoice total as it wwas in NZD, ie, $36NZD was the total of the invoice, for both me and him, my invoice should have shown $25, so my store is out $10, If I remove NZD from the dropdown, and only have an option for AUD, it would fix it, but I want NZ customers to see in NZD.

    Am I making sense

    Guy,
you can test this yourself by placing an order in NZD (using payment method Cheque / Money Order).

Firstly take note of the currency conversion rate AUD/NZD set in Admin.

Let's take the example of a conversion rate of 1.25. Now create a test product valued at AUD10 and check it out using NZD. It should show NZD12.50 on the order and on the invoice. So you are getting "paid" NZD12.50 on paper but you actually receive AUD10 which is the price you set for the test item. Therefore you have not lost a single cent.

If it all shows as in my example then your settings and configs are correct.

    Guy,
I have just been to your site www.australiancaching.com/store/ and looked at the prices of a few products. It appears that your exchange rate NZD/AUD is presently set at 1.30653266.

You have one product priced at AUD 9.95 which shows NZD 13.00 after changing currencies. So, from what I can see your settings appear to be right.

Bear in mind that the cost for postage normally varies to different destinations and this difference in shipping cost changes the 'bottom line' what the customer pays and what you receive.

    Frank,
Thank you, I changed it to NZD $, and AUD $, and it showed up as NZD when I "purchased" a golf ball from myself.

I just assumed that my sale totals would all be in AUD,

Makes a lot of work at tax time, but I can live with that, wish it showed the conversion rate.

It even shows up in the invoice I was worried about, even after the sale is finalised, it still updated, happy camper now.

Thank you so much for your help.

If you are referring to the totals displayed in the orders listing in the admin, you are right it displays the order totals in the currency selected by your customer not your default currency (AUD). As long as you got PAID in the correct currency (AUD) and the conversion rate is correct then you should be fine..
