    Default configure.php error on installation

I have uploaded all of the files to /zencart a folder i created on the host i used the url /zencart/zc_install which took me to the initial setup process clicked continue till the install ran an error check and found these two errors:

    * /includes/configure.php file does not exist

    * admin configure.php is not writeable

I changed the permissions and renamed the files as the instructions stated then i reuploaded these 2 files and i still receive the same errors i am well... lost when it comes to databases and sql servers can anyone tell me how to correct this:frusty

I suppose the latter is meant to read admin/includes/configure.php

Double-check the existence of /includes/configure.php on your server and double-check that permissions for admin/includes/configure.php are set to 777

If you uploaded the whole package as per instructions https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=107 and did the re-naming of the 2 dist-configure.php files then there is no reason for the install not to work.

I created the files in both as per instructions
I was not able to change the permissions via filezilla on host
kept getting a "not recognized command'" after i changed the chmod in filezilla
So i changed the permission locally and re-uploaded them I set the permissions as full on both and i still receive the same errors

    Sounds like a server-side problem.

Can you access the file structure on the server via cPanel? If so, use the file manager (which comes with cPanel) and try to change the chmod this way.

If you can't access the files on the server then you may have to contact your host for assistance.

I have gotten the configure.php files to work thanx for all of your help!
    Greatly appreciated.

After the cofigure.php files were corrected and i was able to continue with installation, on the Database setup screen it will not accept my host string it keeps giving me this error:

    Connection to Database failed
    Unknown MySQL server host ' XXXXXXXX.db.52XXX44.hostedresource.com' (11004)
    (X's replace my details obviously)

I have tried the ip for the database ive tried only entering local host.
I also called my host and they tested the database and said it tested fine so i am at a loss any help would be appreciated ty.

Idea or Suggestion Re: configure.php error on installation

    Hi guys!

I'm having the same problem here.

I've checked with my FTP client and, just to be absolutely sure, I've checked with cPanel's file viewer and the permission for /includes/configure.php is definitely 644, but I'm still getting the permissions warning.

Also, just in case it's a typo in the warning message, I checked admin/includes/configure.php and it too is 644.

    Any ideas?

I'm using Zen Cart v1.3.8a, first full installation and configuration.
