Error 500: Internal Server Error after submit

Hi hope somebody can help, I am running the latest ver of zencart, pretty standard install, just a customized template, everything seemed to be working fine but am now getting Error 500: Internal Server Error after customers hit the submit button for their payment. the payment goes through but the customers get confused. Have checked the log and am getting this error ...
file does not exist rockhilllavender.com/application/cart/index.php
and sure enough it does not, in fact I have no application directory at all and never have had.
The host denies any changes since install.
Any help appreciated.

A 500 error is a server error - unlikely a zencart problem.

You'll need to check the server error log (usually a link in CPanel) to see where the problem lies.

As I mentioned in my post, the server is saying it can't find the /application/cart/index.php file. since there is no "application" directory in zencart this is understandable. Was wondering if the message may be coming from visa/bank?

Try using the Developers Toolkit to search the files on your server for the word "application". You'll find some legitimate uses such as "application_top.php", but the other results might point you to places to look.

Or, maybe you're using a payment gateway where you've configured a Return URL in your gateway settings, and the "application/" folder is in part of that URL either by mistake or by default. It might be worth talking to tech support at your gateway for help with that side of things.

Hopefully that gives you some places you might look.

Thanks for the reply, re-installed the payment module witch did not help am trying to get help from the vendor (without much help), will keep on digging.
