How to set default radio button for payment?

I have my cart configured for 3 different payment options:
#1 credit card
#2 Paypal (standard)
#3 check/money order

I want the radio button for the credit card option (sort order #0) to be automatically checked the first time a user reaches this page. Anyone know where I can do this? I would imagine it's in the code somewhere...

When the customer clicks inside the Credit Card fields to enter their credit card details, it will automatically select the radio button next to that option for them. There's no need to select a "default".

I have the same issue that no radio button deault is checked even when customers fill out the credit card info. To make matters worse, the card number disappears forcing them to re-enter their card number again. I have complaints about this and want to set the radio button default to credit card.

I have version 1.3.8a with Authorizenet_aim and Paypal IPN payment modules.

Why won't the radio button get checked on my site at www . olivus . us ???

Never had that problem with 1.38a, but now running 1.39 and it works just like The Doc said. Once the customer click inside the CC field it will be auto selected.

Just discovered today that this does not work with Authorize.Net or Merchant partners. Perhaps this was part of the old CC that was removed?

Not sure what you're talking about.
The auto-select-the-radio-button feature works just fine for all built-in payment modules (including Authorize.net) and for any that were modeled after them.

One instance is with a Merchant Partners add-on that was cloned from an earlier Authorize.Net example. I will need to see if the newer authorizenet files are different from what was used as the model for the MP in use. It's been four years so nothing could have changed, right?

The other is on a 1.3.9h site with Authorize.Net BUT it does use a TM template.

Hopefully, I'll have more time to look at it later today. There is an old workaround to force the button with the lowest sort order to be selected, but I would prefer to have the code outside that particular tpl file.

Ive been struggling a bit with this. I have installed
1. Paymex Payment module
2. Bank Deposit
3. Paypal

when i change the order to bank deposit as #1 it seems to select it as the default but as soon as i change it back to Paymex ###### default, it doesnt seem to pre-select.
Any Ideas on whats Up????
