Search text input box width (in side box)

Hello,

I have searched the forum for quite a while, but can't find what I'm trying to do.

I have a search box in the right side column (not header).
I want to make the width of just the text input box ('Enter keywords here') smaller.

Changing column width or boxes in Layout Settings doesn't change this. I have looked in tpl_search.php, but width seems to be set by a variable, and hard setting it does not work. I also tried tpl_search_header, which, as I suspected doesn't work since the search box is not in the header.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you look at line 21 in tpl_search.php, you'll see it begins:

$content .= zen_draw_input_field('keyword', '', 'size="18" maxlength="100" style="width: ' . ($column_width-30) .

Changing the number in red to a larger number seems to make the box smaller. I don't know enough about PHP to say why, though.

Hmm...doesn't seem to be affecting my search box.

Okay, seems changing this piece: size="18" to a smaller number did the trick.
