red flag Re: Customer default Email Format Pref HTML

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to bulk update all customers Email Format Pref to HTML as I never had this set as the default ( but now do) and want to sent all my emails in HTML format. I don't want to have to go into each individual record and update this individually as I have quite a few customers. Can anyone help me with this?

Yes, updating the entire list of customers would be helpful. Anyone?

Can be done with a SQL patch...

    ... BUT...

Don't "assume" all customers want html emails. Many DO NOT.

It may even be against the law to alter this from the cutomer's initial preference.

Also, many companies configure their mail server to block HTML formatted mail.

best you can do is send your customers an email indicating that HTML emails are now possible, and if they want them, they can change the setting in their MY ACCOUNT area.

Is it possible to remove this option from the "My Account Information" page that the customer sees without editing the PHP directly? I can't see an option to disable it in Admin.
In light of the post above, it would seem reasonable to just remove the HTML email option altogether. The "admin/configuration/email options/Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails" value can be set to false but the option to select HTML email still shows up on the "My Account Information" page - at least it does for me.

Not from admin, no, but it would be easy enough to remove from tpl_modules_create_ account.php.
