Is there a product limit

Hey, I'm new to Zen Cart.

I searched the FAQs for "product limit" and the forums for "product limit"

Nothing came up

Does Zen Cart have a product limit? If I drop 30000 products on it, is it going to muck up or slow or be impossible to search for things, etc etc?

I'm used to other Carts and sometimes this happens. Or sometimes there's a "Limit" on the amount of products you can sell.

Technically there is a limit - and I think it's in the region of about fifteen billion - which is far more than every product ever invented in the history of mankind.

So 30 000 is very small change.

Speed is based on many factors. but if you want a really fast service, buy a Blue Gene/L server.

With that type of offering you should be making a sufficient amout of profit and can afford the required class of dedicated server to service your speed issues and a sys admin to manage it

I've been building a site which has approx. 45,000 items on it and quite a couple of thousand more products to be added!

The website works, and zencarts framework is holding up well. I've kept product images and descriptions to a minimum to keep it fast.

But I've come across problems, probably with my server. Easy Populate keeps on timing out, so I can't add more products, or download a CSV backup of what I have already! Any advice?

It helps the community to find similar issues and solutions

You need to provide more information about your server
If a shared account you need to work with your host
If a dedicated server, you need to consult a server forum about what settings you can alter for php timings
