Default "Successfully Added Selected Product To Cart" Message Issue

I am using Zen Cart v1.3.8, never upgraded, just installed from this version.

But, my version has been customized by another team and I have taken it over. Unfortunately, I have found a bug that I have not been able to solve after 2 months of investigation.

When you add a product to the cart, we have it set the Admin Configuration to not go to the shopping cart, but to display the message, "Successfully Added Selected Product to Cart Message".

But the click through on this goes to an incorrect URL that it looks like was customized by one of the previous people who worked on the site.

Here is the html that shows on the page:

    <div class="messageStackSuccess larger"><a href="http://www.wrongURL.com/anothersite"><img width="20" height="20" title=" Success " alt="Success" src="includes/templates/template_default/images/icons/success.gif"> Successfully added selected Product(s) to the cart ...</a></div>

Can someone help me resolve this to display the original code that I assume should go to the shopping cart. Or I would be okay with removing the link, just not going to an external site. Thanks for your help in advance!

That's definitely something that's been hacked in by whoever customized your cart.
A clean fresh Zen Cart install doesn't put an A HREF in that message. It's just a text message, not clickable.

It also looks like they've done something to alter the way the text is normally output. As such it's very hard to guess exactly what they altered.

I'm guessing they might have mussed with the english.php language file.

But, I recommend looking for references to your "wrongURL.com" using the Developers Toolkit, and making any relevant corrections that way:

Unfortunately no such luck with either recommendations. Thanks so much for your response, you'd be surprised how much time I've spent on this over the last 3 months

When searching with the Developers Toolkit, did you shorten your search text to just "wrongURL"?
And, did you tell it to search ALL catalog files? or were you just searching language files by mistake?
(You'll notice that the last search box searches everything, not just language files like the first one does.)

Hey, Thanks! I did check the last box and selected 'All Files' catalog/admin. Can I PM you my site to take a look at the URL up top when you add to cart?

To be honest, there is another file (image) that is loading from one of my other sites that creates a 404 error each time a page loads. I tried to just stick a 1x1 pixel image in the directory, but it causes a security message on the cart since a non-secure item loads, so this a 404 is a better outcome than a non-secure item loading.

I even downloaded my entire set of files from our FTP and searched the contents on my local computer. Still no luck!

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to trouble shoot and hopefully solve this issue.

Looks like rogue javascript causing the abnormal behavior.
Not sure if you've been hacked or whether what's there was put there by your predecessor.

Thanks Dr. Byte, I really appreciate your feedback. We did confirm that it was rogue javascript and the issue has been resolved.

I believe it may have been some sloppy trial of something from my predecessor and hopefully not some malicious code.

All passwords have been changed etc as a safety precaution. Thanks again!
