Default Your database appears to need patching to a higher leve

To whom ever may help me

I upgraded to the latest version Zen Cart 1.3.8a after running an older version 1.3.0.1 for years. I should have left well enough alone.

I was running the cart under its own IP address and also had an installation under a domain address in IIS. Though things worked well there was some inconsistencies.

After installing other many other instances of Zen Cart correctly installed and learning more about php and mysql. I attempted to correct this issue

    Database: MySQL 4.1.19-community-nt
    Database Date: 04/11/2010 06:17:11
    Microsoft-IIS/6.0
    PHP Version: 5.1.4 (Zend: 2.1.0)
Database Data Size: 5,127 kB Database Index Size: 626 kB

    Zen Cart 1.3.8a
    Database Patch Level: 1.3.0.1
    v1.3.0.1 [2006-05-24 08:46:04] (Fresh Installation)
    v1.3.0.1 [2006-05-24 08:46:04] (Fresh Installation)

using Classic templete with mild css config.

The reason for my post since getting things to work somewhat correctly. I still receive the following Your database appears to need patching to a higher level.

It seems we received an order confirmation via pay pal. However my shopping cart shows no activity since my update and I have no idea what was ordered? Any Idea's

    Thanks in advance

You have upgraded the FILES but not the DATABASE.

Upgrades are best done via zc_install, where the option is presented to upgrade the database.

The procedure is generally relatively "painless". However, if you have lots of CUSTOM files (your custom template), these need to be manually examined so that you then apply the same edits you did originally to the 1.3.0.1 files, to the new 1.3.8a files.

You need to do a FILE COMPARISON with these files.

    For example:

If you edited a file called
    includes/templates/YOUR-TEMPLATE/tpl_product_info_display.php

... you now need to COMPARE that file with its new CORE counterpart:
    includes/templates/template_default/tpl_product_info_display.php

... and make sure that you apply the edits you made all that time ago, within the context of the 1.3.8a version of the file.

It can be time-consuming... but your decision to upgrade was correct.

Thanks for your very timely reply.

I followed the steps as described and though the steps say completed.

    Upgrade Mode Available

    Previous Zen Cart™ Installation Found
Database appears to be Zen Cart™ v1.3.8

Database Information -- Upgrade Sniffer predicts: *** No upgrade required ***

In Admin I still get this message:
Warning Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools->Server Information to review patch levels.

Still In admin area Zen Cart shows no activity since my original upgrade, however I know pay pal is working because I got notification of purchase but have no idea what was purchased, hmm.

    Thanks in advance,

Sounds like maybe your admin is pointing to a different database? That happens when you don't edit BOTH configure.php files simultaneously when you change database details.

Sounds like I'm having the same problem. The actual db is patched according to what the actual values are in the tables.

What file do I edit to get the admin to point to the correct database? I checked admin/includes/configure.php and didn't see any parameters for db connections.

Nevermind, all you have to do is make sure the new database name/login in includes/configure.php is also applied to the configure.php located in admin/includes. It's there.. I guess I just missed it. Need moar caffeine :/
