I assume that this exchange between my server and the zen cart server is safe and doesn't contain any sensitive data i.e admin address etc.? p.s the reason I'm asking this question is not because I don't trust zen cart, but due to a recent hacking I'm very security concious (borderline paranoid lol) about that sort of thing.
If you want it to quit checking, in admin/includes/local/skip_version_check.ini
Code:
[ZenCart]
version_check=on
;if you are running Zen Cart on a local server that is not connected to the internet.
;set the above line to "=off" to temporarily disable version checking
; BE SURE TO TURN IT ON AGAIN on your live server!
admin_configure_php_check=on
;if you are getting errors about the "configure.php" file being incorrect when accessing the admin area,
; and yet you know the file is fine, set the above setting to 'off'
Change the version_check=on to off. Also, you can inspect the code in admin/includes/header.php, it starts at line 125.
