I have a user that was having a problem with a gift certificate. I went to the database and removed the gift certificate. Now my main customer lookup shows her with a balance but the detailed version shows a balance of 0.

I have to go figure out what relationship you broke by just deleting things in the database ...
Do you recall specifically what you touched in the database table(s)?
