    Default Email orders delays

There is about 30-40 mins delays before I actually get the order by email after customer place an order. But funny thing is after some testing the delay only happen for the first order after a while. after first order. if i place another order I will get email for second order straight away(before the first order). Order does appear in zen cart admin.. just that it doesn't send email.

The reason my website can't have these delay because I use website for restaurant online ordering and i need to get email straight away after customer order. I am using smtp with my web hosting email. Everything work ok just these delays I am having. I assuming its probably my email/server hosting but what can I do?

    Thanks

Zen Cart sends the email immediately (before the customer sees the Checkout_success screen). Any delays are related to problems with the servers used to deliver the email after Zen Cart hands it off. Best to contact your hosting company and/or email provider.

You're right that this is a hosting /mail server issue. And also, as such can only be dealt with your web host.

Ask if there's a particular reason why it's slow. I've occasionally seen delays on shared hosting arrangements when mail servers are temporarily overloaded, but it shouldn't be normal.

If your web host is unresponsive, or can't provide a credible explanation and assurance that it won't persist, change web hosts. This isn't a normal delay and you shouldn't have to put up with it.

Header of email show something like

    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
    Date: Wed, 26 May 2010 04:28:44 -0500 [07:28:44 PM EST]
    Delivery-date: Wed, 26 May 2010 05:03:25 -0500

    Envelope-to: [email protected]
    From: Customer email
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Message-ID: <[email protected]>
    Received: from [74.86.102.96] (port=58571 helo=online.roseofthailand.com) by server55.integrityserver.net with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from <endofenrique##########################>) id 1OHCuq-0003do-4D for [email protected]; Wed, 26 May 2010 04:28:46 -0500
    Reply-to: Enrique Sison <endofenrique##########################>
    Return-path: <endofenrique##########################>
    Subject: NEW ORDER No: 287
    To: Shop Owner <[email protected]>
X-Mailer: PHPMailer [version 1.73] via Zen Cart
    X-Priority: 3
    X-Spam-Bar: /
    X-Spam-Flag: NO
    X-Spam-Score: 8
    X-Spam-Status: No, score=0.8
    Headers: Show Limited Headers

You can see that there is about 30 min delay between Date and Delivery Date.

And what does your web host say about that?
