COWOA Module (my update for ZC v1.3.x)

NOT SO FAST.. FEC has a few issues of it's own (IMHO) and it doesn't always play nice with other mods.. Proceed with caution...

Just a quick question: what mods have you experienced the "not play so well with?" -- I need to add one or the other. I guess the best thing I could do is remove the check order link in the email the customer receives when they place a order. This is the only issue so far I found with COWOA. Would you know where and what I need to remove to do this?

Never mind! I found where to do this. It's built in the COWOA mod in admin. I just told it to not send a order confirmation link in the order email. I wish all solutions were this easy! :)

Oh-Oh...I think I just found my first major issue using COWOA...
When someone purchases a gift certificate and they use the no account check out, how in the world are they going to be able to use or issue the gift certificate without an account because the link in the email does not work...takes them to "Page Not Found" on the site so I disabled that, now I'm stuck and in need of assistance.

Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do for a fix? Is there a way to "force customer to create account" when they have a gift certificate in their cart? I really need some guidance here.

PM me a quote if you can alter the code to force create account instead of using COWOA with gift certificates. I'm sure someone has a solution.

UPDATE: I have found an updated version of COWOA and installed it. The only issue I am having now is when I issue the gift certificate to someone and they click on the link within the email to redeem, it tells them " in order to redeem your gift certificate you must create account" - AND - still get the PAge Not Found with other orders without gc... can anyone help?

Ok. I found my error. I had left off one little piece of code that made the whole COWOA thing go nuts on me. Fixed it and now it is working correctly. Pay myself on the back!!

Now on to the next issue!

Why don't you share the full details on what files you edited and where in the files these edits were made so that others having the same issue can benefit from the information..

Also you stated you got a more updated version of COWOA.. Did you get it from the free downloads section or somewhere else??

Give me a few minutes to gather some information to post. (I was going to do this but got sidetracked this morning) I'm sure someone on this thread has had the same issues I did and it was a simple upgrade to the latest COWOA software and a change with a line of code. I'll be back in a few...

Ok. For the ones who need an updated software, you can find it here http://www.gticustom.com/index.php?m...products_id=13 - this is COWOA - CheckOut WithOut an Account. Version 2.0c2 released Jan 2011

The download in the Free Zen Cart Add On's is version 2.0c1 and was released Sept 2010.

The part in the instructions in this new version, last page where it tells you to add another ('FILENAME_ORDERS_STATUS', 'orders_status); and change out ORDERS to ORDER -- make sure to change the second name to the same...this is where I made the mistake...I corrected it and now it works for me.
I hope this will help others who wants to use this module. I would at least get the latest version and give it a whirl.

BTW...I am on Zen Cart Version 1.3.9h

Ahhhhhhhhhh.. Perhaps when I get some time I'll be a good netizen and bundle up and post the latest version in the free downloads section.. ETA: and now that I've taken a brief look at the install instructions, I'll probably bundle in the files that need to be modified with the mods made to minimize install errors from errant edits..

Not sure I understand this part, but maybe this will make sense when I look at the Version 2.0c2 code..

ETA: Okay this part of the install file..

STEP 6 - **** Add to your /includes/filenames.php file the following line: ****

It looks just like this one: define('FILENAME_ORDERS_STATUS', 'orders_status'); but without the (s) after the word order.
