Trying to set up local copy of existing Zen Cart

So, I am trying to alter an existing website that is running on zen cart, but I'm having trouble setting it up locally so I can keep it under version control.

I'm running it through xampp on my windows 7 32 bit machine. I've exported the DB and imported it locally, I've altered the admin/include/configure.php and the include/configure.php to have the correct database call and login, changed the FS paths to be local, but when I go to my local site, I get the Zen Cart installation screen.

I'm totally confused as to why this does not work.

Well, now I feel dumb. I forgot one folder in the absolute path. But, now I just get a blank screen locally. And if I try to login to the admin area, I get this:

Sounds like you are running php 5.3 on your local system. And Zen Cart 1.3.8.

Only Zen Cart 1.3.9 will run under php 5.3

You have a choice down grade php to 5.2.9 or up grade ZC to 1.3.9c

Try using an older version of XAMPP. I'm using v1.7.1 on my Windows 7 machine which has PHP v5.2.9 and runs ZC v1.3.8a just fine.

You could also install this patch (for your 1.38a), which will get it going with your current version of php and then update to 1.39c. http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...38a-php53patch
