Default How to show subcategories in sidebox, not on main page?

I want subcategories to show on category pages but not on the middle of the main page (e.g. the first or home page).

When I turn on subcategories in the Categories sidebox, it automatically displays those subcategories in the middle of the main page. I want the subcategories in the sidebox, not on the main page.

    My layout settings are:

Categories - Always show on main page = 1
Main Page - Opens with Category = 69
Categories - Always open to show subcategories = 1

Now, if I change the first setting above to 0, the subcategories don't show in my category sidebox, it defaults to showing only my two top level categories. I want the subcategories to always display the second level categories (69) in the sidebox, but not to list all of them in the middle of the main page too (there are a LOT). But when a user clicks on a category, I DO want the subcategories to display in the top middle of the category page.

If I change the third setting above to 0, the sidebox only shows my two top categories.

What additional settings am I missing here?

I'd hate to guess how many template versions there are out there.

It may just be a simple display: none; in the stylesheet, but we could help better if we had at least a link.

I didn't want to post the link publicly so I've pm'ed you.

If you fix the major errors with the TM template, the problem might go away.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of your page and (above the hr) you will find }?>

    That's not a good sign.

    Neither is

at the top of the Commercial Products.

Other than that, I don't see what you are talking about.

I'd fix the other THEN worry about the sub-categories.

I know about the errors but I have to prioritize and the boss wants to start editing product details now.

Those TM errors are easy fixes, anyway and nothing to do with the problem I'm describing.
