Default Upgrading through fantastico or manual way ???

I'm currently using v.1.3.8 and would like to upgrade to 1.3.9c. I initially installed zencart with fantastico from cpanel (is there anyone do the same?) and never did any upgrade since.

Now I have an option to upgrade to 1.3.9b provided by fantastico, while I have downloaded the 1.3.9c version. Is there anyone could suggest which upgrade should I do? Since the fantastico-way seems much more simple (just a click away) but I will not have the newest version. The other way maybe more complicated since I have to do it step-by-step as told by the upgrade tutorial, but I will have the newest version installed

I haven't done either way, and now am still reading docs of upgrading process, worrying how my current configuration, design, and add-ons impacted by the upgrading process

So please anyone can give me some enlightenment, or maybe can share about both upgrading process (either fantastico or manual way) ???

    thanks in advance, guys....

Always upgrade manually, using the latest version.
Never use automated scripts ... they almost always break your site.

thanks DrByte... Is the 2.readme_how_to_upgrade.html provided by the upgrade package good enough to guide the manual upgrade?
I really don't want my site breaking down due to a wrong upgrade process

    thanks a lot :)
