I am trying to remove Newsletter Unsubscribe from the Information box on my website
http://www.tarotandoraclecards.com
If I remove the link in /includes/languages/english.php it is removed,
but if I put this file in /includes/languages/mytemplate/english.php it is not overriding.
Would someone tell me the obvious mistake I am making please?

You actually want to edit the file includes/modules/sideboxes/YOUR TEMPLATE/information.php
You should also check in the Configuration / Define pages - I am not logged into an admin right now but I believe there is a place somewhere in there that will turn that off for you without editing anything ;)

BTW, newsletter unsubscribe is not switchable in Configuration/Define pages - at least not on my copy!
