Dynamically creating products, or specific products for each customer

Just wondering if this has been done, is possible, or seems possible:

I need to have my shopping cart load specific products for each customer. The products are customized through a different user interface by each customer. Their descriptions are in another MySQL database. When a customer logs in, they should be able to see their customized products and place an order for them.

Example: Bob starts with the stock 3x3x3" black box but wants a 3.2x3.8x7" red box. This customized box is represented in the other GUI, and the database for the GUI updates Bob's box. When he exits the GUI and goes to the store, he sees his product's description and places the order for that specific model.

As this will not be a product available in ZenCart, How will you use ZenCart to allow a purchase???

I was thinking that I could change items in the MySQL database in the background. Maybe change an attribute or option in the background? It would have to be specific to that customer though and not viewable by other customers. Is this even remotely a possibility or is this too much of a pain with the existing software.
